Firefighters rescue five from stalled Vienna roller coaster

Vienna firefighters rescued five people, including two children, from the stalled “Wilde Maus” roller coaster at the Prater amusement park, ORF reported.

The ride stopped for an unknown reason on Monday evening, leaving the passengers in cars up to 16 metres above the ground. Firefighters reached the affected cars and brought everyone down safely using a turntable ladder and a telescopic mast platform.

Vienna’s professional emergency medical service was also called to the scene. Three passengers received medical attention, but none needed to be taken to hospital.

The ride was temporarily closed by the responsible authority. The cause of the disruption remains unknown.
