64-year-old man threatens late-night revelers with air rifle

A 64-year-old man in Perg threatened four late-night revelers with an air rifle after they rang several doorbells, ORF reported. The weapon was not loaded.

The four men, aged between 19 and 34, woke residents of a house in the Upper Austrian town at around midnight. A 27-year-old resident returned home at the same time and confronted the group outside, leading to an argument that woke his father.

According to police, the 64-year-old took the air rifle outside, cocked it and pointed it towards the four men without placing ammunition in the chamber.

The group immediately left and called emergency services. When police arrived, all those involved were still outside the house and had to be separated because they were agitated.

Police seized the air rifle and imposed a provisional weapons ban on the 64-year-old, who will also face a report.
