Police seek witnesses after cat is shot and killed in Altheim

Police in the Innviertel region are seeking information about a suspected animal abuser after a cat was shot in Altheim in the Braunau district, ORF reported. The cat’s 40-year-old owner notified police several days ago. The animal died shortly afterwards.

According to a police statement, the cat was shot with an air rifle between August 21 and 24 in the Muckenau area of Altheim.

The owner took the cat to a vet, who found an entry wound on its back. The projectile, which had lodged in the animal’s abdomen, was removed in an operation. Despite the surgery and prompt medical treatment, the cat died.
