Graz Airport puts nearly 50 vehicles and machines up for auction

Graz Airport is auctioning nearly 50 vehicles and pieces of equipment, ORF reported on Wednesday. The exhibits were available for inspection, and some could be given a second life at another airport.

The items include passenger stairs, a fire engine, a passenger bus, a baggage conveyor belt, electric towing vehicles, axles, battery chargers and a wooden auger.

It is not the first time Graz Airport has sold ageing equipment. The airport also disposed of older vehicles and machinery in 2022. Airport chief Wolfgang Grimus said the fleet had to be regularly replaced to meet regulatory requirements and ensure safe, smooth flight operations.

Interest has come from private individuals, companies and other airports. A Romanian airport was at Graz Airport on Wednesday to inspect some of the items.

Grimus said the main aim was not to generate as much money as possible at the auction, but to give the equipment “a second, extended life.”
