Raiffeisen Schweiz plans to cut up to 180 jobs as part of a cost-saving programme, SRF reported. The cooperative bank aims to reduce personnel and operating costs by around 60 million Swiss francs by 2027.

More than half of the job cuts are expected to come through natural staff turnover, the elimination of vacant positions, reduced use of external workers and early retirements. Raiffeisen employs around 13,000 people.

The bank is also restructuring its organisation from October, when it will be divided into six departments. These include the customer-focused Private Clients department and the Corporate Clients and Trading department. A new Products and Solutions department will also be created.

Raiffeisen is still looking for a head of the new department. Philipp Ackermann will lead Corporate Clients and Trading, while Patrick Lehner will head Private Clients.

Existing executive board members Roland Altwegg and Helen Fricker will leave Raiffeisen Schweiz in September as part of the reorganisation.

Raiffeisen also reported higher first-half results on Wednesday. Net profit rose by 104.3 million Swiss francs year on year to 659.3 million francs, while operating profit increased from 670 million to 785.1 million francs.
