61-year-old seriously injured by wood splitter in Styria

A 61-year-old man was seriously injured while working with a wood splitter at his parents’ farm in Großwilfersdorf in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district on Tuesday morning, ORF reported.

The man had placed a piece of wood about 30 centimetres high on the splitter’s support table. When he pressed the foot pedal, the splitting wedge lowered and struck his right hand.

Neighbours immediately alerted emergency services. After receiving first aid, the man was taken to LKH Graz hospital. His current condition is not known.
