19-year-old arrested after allegedly injuring woman, officer and dog in Vienna

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Vienna’s Penzing district after allegedly attacking a passer-by, a police officer and a dog, ORF reported. He was also accused of threatening witnesses and insulting police officers.

The incident began on Saturday evening on Gunsenleithnergasse, where the man allegedly argued with a passer-by and kicked her. His shouting drew the attention of his older sister and other residents, whom he allegedly threatened. He also reportedly heavily insulted a man walking his dog and kicked the animal.

When police arrived, the man’s 25-year-old sister was trying to calm him by holding him. He allegedly became more aggressive, insulted the officers and made verbal threats including, “I’ll beat you to death” and “I’ll stab you.”

Police arrested him at about 8 p.m. after he failed to comply with an order to stop. He was reported on suspicion of making dangerous threats, resisting law enforcement, causing bodily harm and animal cruelty. He remained in police custody on Sunday. One officer was also injured during the operation but was able to continue working.
