Police stop intoxicated driver in Graz

Police in Graz stopped a 34-year-old driver who was moderately intoxicated and suspected of having consumed cannabis and cocaine, ORF reported. Officers prohibited her from continuing the journey, seized her driving licence and notified the youth welfare office.
The woman’s car was stopped at about 12.25 a.m. during a targeted traffic check in Graz’s Gries district. The operation focused on drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Officers observed clear signs of impairment. An alcohol test confirmed moderate intoxication.
During the stop, police noticed the smell of cannabis in the vehicle. A search found a small quantity of cannabis. A subsequent fitness-to-drive examination indicated the use of cannabis and cocaine.
The 34-year-old was reported to the competent authority. Officers also informed the youth welfare office of the district administrative authority.
