Sofia and Noah top Switzerland’s 2025 baby-name rankings

Sofia was the most popular name for girls born in Switzerland in 2025, while Noah led the boys’ ranking, SRF reported, citing the Federal Statistical Office.

Liam and Gabriel followed Noah among boys. Emma and Mia ranked second and third among girls.

Noah had already topped the ranking in 2010, 2011, from 2013 to 2017, and from 2021 to 2024. Sofia previously ranked among the three most popular girls’ names from 2017 to 2019 and from 2022 to 2024.

Liyana made the biggest gain among girls’ names, climbing 279 places between 2024 and 2025. Arno rose 199 places among boys’ names.

Linda recorded the sharpest fall among girls’ names, dropping 69 places, while Milan fell 76 places among boys’ names. Mina and Maleo entered the top 100 for the first time.
