Faulty fuel pumps delay St. Georgen store and gas station

The reopening of a convenience store and petrol station in Sankt Georgen near Salzburg has been delayed after the fuel pumps failed, ORF reported. The site had been closed for about a year following the previous operator’s bankruptcy.

The new operators had planned to reopen on Thursday. Ingrid Fabian, who worked at the site for 15 years, has leased the business with her husband from its new owners for 10 years.

After the underground fuel tanks were refilled the day before the planned opening, no fuel came from the pumps. Fabian said the pump motors had failed because of the year-long closure.

She has therefore postponed the convenience store’s opening by more than a week. Fabian said she would not change the supermarket’s range. Once open, the business will also offer a small outdoor seating area and a postal service outlet.
