Fire engulfs roof of unoccupied house in Styria

A fire engulfed the roof of a house in Gratwein-Straßengel, a municipality in the Graz-Umgebung district, on Thursday evening, ORF reported. More than 90 firefighters responded, and no one was injured.

Emergency services were alerted at about 6.30 p.m. When police arrived, the entire roof was on fire. Fire crews already at the scene had begun extensive firefighting operations.

A total of 93 firefighters using 23 vehicles brought the blaze under control. The house was unoccupied at the time, according to its owner. No people or animals were inside.

The amount of damage has not yet been established. Firefighting continued into the night, while the cause of the blaze remains unknown. A police district fire investigator is due to examine the scene more closely on Friday.
