Cro and Tokio Hotel lead first acts announced for Frequency 2027

Organisers of the FM4 Frequency Festival in St. Poelten have announced the first acts for next year, including rapper Cro, German band Tokio Hotel and AnnenMayKantereit, ORF reported.

Austrian acts currently planned for the 2027 festival include singer Mathea and hip-hop artists Bibiza and Vicky. Finch, Blumengarten, Greeen and Amistat have also been announced.

The announcement came shortly before the end of the first day of this year’s festival, following Lorde’s performance.

The New Zealand pop star was one of Thursday’s main attractions on the Space Stage. She opened her set with her 2013 hit Royals, prompting fans to sing along, and also performed newer songs including What Was That? and tracks from her album Virgin.

Lorde’s stage design included projected X-ray images and heart-rate readings, while cameras captured her movements dynamically. She described the concept of Virgin as a form of cleansing and said she had wanted to shed parts of herself that were not completely authentic.

Kraftklub closed the first of the festival’s three nights with confetti, heavy fog and songs including Marlboro Mann. In total, 20 international and Austrian acts performed across the three main stages, presenting a mix of genres ranging from rap to indie rock.

SDP helped energise the crowd at the Space Stage with humorous rap and rock songs, while Swedish singer Zara Larsson drew a large audience despite rain during her set. She performed hits including Can’t Tame Her and Lush Life, and invited a fan on stage near the end of the show.

Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. attracted a smaller crowd after Larsson’s performance. The Infinity Live Stage also had limited attendance, while the Electronic Green Stage drew fans throughout the programme. Cascada opened that stage with Eurodance hits.
