Vaud Centre party opposes Dittli’s bid for another term

Vaud’s Centre party executive has recommended that delegates reject cantonal councillor Valérie Dittli’s candidacy for another term, SRF reported. The recommendation was approved by 14 votes to six, with two abstentions.

The meeting took place in Henniez, Vaud, with Dittli present. According to a statement issued on Thursday evening, the 22 executive members were “deeply disappointed” by the way she announced her candidacy.

They criticised what they described as insufficient coordination with the party leadership and failure to meet established deadlines. Announcing a candidacy that had already been decided, with or without the delegates’ support, showed “blatant disregard” for the party and its members, the statement said.

The cantonal executive has now joined the party’s nine-member leadership committee in opposing Dittli’s bid for another term in the Vaud government elections in February.
