The Burgenland Greens have launched a campaign to gather political ideas and suggestions from residents ahead of the 2027 municipal council elections, ORF reported.
Under the campaign slogan Misch dich ein, meaning Get involved, the party is encouraging people to engage in local politics. The Greens are celebrating their 40th anniversary in Burgenland this year, but are primarily focused on preparing for the elections.
The party is represented by municipal councillors in 19 of Burgenland’s 171 municipalities, holding a total of 31 seats.
We want to encourage people to get involved locally and speak up with determination, state spokesperson Anja Haider Wallner said. The recent heatwave had shown that the region needed to become greener, she added.
Over the coming weeks and months, the Greens will collect proposals for improvements and topics that residents want addressed. Green suggestion boxes will travel throughout Burgenland, parliamentary group leader Samara Sanchez Poell said.
The party will also organise discussion meetings. The next one is planned for the first week of September in Eisenstadt.
