Camping and mobile homes gain ground in Burgenland

Camping has continued to grow in Burgenland, while mobile-home pitches have also become increasingly popular, ORF reported.
Many camping caravans were visible during a visit to the camping ground in Podersdorf in northern Burgenland. “Occupancy is generally very high here in summer,” said Rene Lentsch of Podersdorf Tourism.
Burgenland has experienced a camping boom since the 2018-19 season, Lentsch said. The coronavirus pandemic further accelerated the trend, with many people deciding to buy a camping caravan at the time.
The trend towards mobile homes has developed in a similar way. Some owners have been leasing the same plot for years. “I have been here with my wife for 13 years, ten of them every weekend,” said Franz Preissl, chairman of the Forchtenstein-Paradise settlers’ association. Many mobile-home owners particularly value the peace and quiet at the camping ground.
