art symposium, Burgenland, eu-art-network

The eu-art-network art symposium begins Friday at the Schlaining fortress, bringing together international cultural practitioners for a week focused on change and uncertainty, ORF reported.

The participants work in visual art, performance, music and literature. This year’s theme is “Change, the constant uncertainty.”

The symposium is also changing venue for the first time. It is being held at Schlaining fortress in the Oberwart district after more than two decades at the Cselley-Mühle in Oslip, followed by events in Rust and at the artists’ village of Neumarkt an der Raab.

Twenty-two artists from nine countries are exploring change in life, society and art, from cave painting to artificial intelligence.

Their work will be presented at a vernissage on August 21 at the Friedensburg Schlaining fortress.
