Search fails to find person at Tillmitsch bathing pond

A search for a possible missing person at a bathing pond in Tillmitsch, Leibnitz district, was unsuccessful, ORF reported on Friday.

Clothing found on the shore on Thursday evening could not be linked to anyone, raising concerns that its owner might still be in the water.

Police, several firefighting divers and the water rescue service took part in the operation. Boats and a drone were also used, but no person was found.

It remains unclear whether the search will continue on Friday. Police said there had been no missing person report and that no unattended car had been found at the site.

A swimming accident therefore cannot be completely ruled out, police said. It is also possible that the clothing was simply left behind.
