Firefighters tackle grassland fires in two Burgenland districts

Firefighters battled two grassland fires in the Mattersburg and Oberpullendorf districts on Thursday, with nine fire departments involved, ORF reported.

In Zemendorf in the Mattersburg district, crews from Zemendorf, Draßburg and Stöttera used three tanker fire engines to fight a fire that broke out outside the village. The Burgenland State Security Centre said the blaze was under control by Thursday afternoon. It burned about 3,000 square metres.

Several fire departments also responded to a grassland fire in Piringsdorf in the Oberpullendorf district. Six departments were involved, and the fire was under control by the afternoon.
