Three injured in motorcycle collision in Styria

Three people were injured, some seriously, when two motorcycles collided at a junction in Empersdorf in the Leibnitz district on Wednesday, ORF Steiermark reported.

Shortly before 4 p.m., a 64-year-old man from the Graz-Umgebung district was riding from Edelgrub on a local road and entered the junction. At the same time, a 47-year-old motorcyclist from the Leibnitz district approached from the direction of Empersdorf with his 45-year-old partner. He was turning right towards Edelgrub when the motorcycles collided for reasons that remain unclear.

Both riders fell from their motorcycles. The 64-year-old is believed to have suffered serious head injuries and was flown by rescue helicopter to Graz Hospital. The 47-year-old and his partner suffered injuries of undetermined severity and were also taken to hospital in Graz. Both motorcycles were towed away.

Two injured in separate car crash

Two people were also injured in a car collision in Pöls-Oberkurzheim in the Murtal district on Wednesday. A 45-year-old driver from the district was overtaking a vehicle on the Triebener Straße when he apparently failed to see an oncoming car driven by a 33-year-old man from the Murtal district.

The collision sent the 33-year-old’s car into an adjoining meadow. The 45-year-old’s car came to a stop on an adjacent cycle path. Both drivers were taken to the Murtal Hospital in Judenburg with injuries of undetermined severity. Both vehicles were written off.
