Police in Wattens are searching for the driver of a black car who allegedly chased two E-bike riders for about 200 metres after an altercation near the town’s swimming pool, ORF reported. One rider, a 16-year-old Austrian, left the road and crashed into an adjacent field.
The incident followed an altercation involving the unidentified driver and the two riders at about 9.30pm on Tuesday near the Wattens swimming pool on Dr Karl Stainer Street. During the confrontation, the driver allegedly tried to pull one of the cyclists from his E-bike. The two riders then fled.
The 16-year-old was injured to an unspecified extent. He was not wearing a helmet, and his E-bike had neither lights nor reflectors. Emergency services treated him at the scene before taking him to Hall Hospital.
The second rider, whose identity is also unknown, continued towards Volders. The car driver left the car park via Salurner Street and drove away in an unknown direction. Police are asking both the driver and the second E-bike rider to report to the Wattens police station.
