Alcohol-related crashes injure two women in Styria

Two women were injured in separate alcohol-related traffic crashes in Styria on Tuesday, ORF reported. In Halbenrain, a 71-year-old driver collided with an oncoming truck after police said she crossed onto the opposite side of the road.

The woman was driving from Klöch towards Hürth shortly after 4 p.m. when her car crossed the centre of the regional road in the built-up area of Hürth. The truck driver could not prevent the collision. The car struck the driver’s side of the truck and was thrown several metres by the impact, while the truck came to a stop across the entire road.

The 52-year-old truck driver was not injured. He provided first aid and helped the woman out through the passenger side because the driver’s door was jammed. After receiving initial treatment, she was taken to Feldbach State Hospital. A breath test showed a moderate level of intoxication, according to police.

The road was closed to all traffic for three hours.

Woman falls from e-scooter

In a separate incident in Kraubath an der Mur in the Leoben district, a 45-year-old woman fell from an e-scooter at about 6.30 p.m. while turning. Police said the fall was her own fault. She was taken to Leoben State Hospital, and a breath test also showed a moderate level of intoxication.
