A technical fault in a switchgear system caused a fire at the Innerfragant power plant in Flattach, Carinthia, overnight into Wednesday, ORF Kärnten reported.
The fire alarm alerted KELAG’s on-call service shortly after 2 a.m. The service switched off the burning inverter, and the Flattach-Fragant and Obervellach volunteer fire brigades extinguished the fire within a short time using a carbon dioxide extinguisher.
No one was endangered or injured. The amount of damage was not yet known.
The two fire brigades deployed 31 personnel and six vehicles. Police and the on-call service also attended, along with officers from Obervellach police.
