The Arcotel hotel in Linz’s Quadrill-Tower was evacuated after a water leak caused by a technical defect in a sprinkler line, ORF reported. The hotel has been closed since Sunday, and the incident has also affected the Q27 restaurant.
The defect occurred on the ninth floor and caused extensive water damage in that part of the building. The lifts also stopped working.
The hotel activated its evacuation plan and moved affected guests to the Arcotel on Donaulände, across the street. Signs in the lobby warned of slippery floors, while technicians worked in the building.
The Q27 restaurant on the tower’s 27th floor is also unable to operate. The tower remained closed on Tuesday afternoon.
The extent of the damage is not yet known, and the hotel has not said when operations can resume. The Arcotel in the Quadrill-Tower opened in April.
