Nearly 12,000 people attended the Gols folk festival in Burgenland on Saturday, ORF reported. Organisers said they were very satisfied with the event’s opening weekend.

Festival coordinator Dieter Horvath said the event attracted visitors mainly from northern Burgenland, southern Lower Austria and the Vienna area. Guests also came from other parts of Austria, Slovakia and Germany.

Sunday began with a traditional morning gathering in a full beer tent. The festival’s third day also marked the second day of the Burgenland Expo, a new four-day trade fair running until Tuesday.

The folk festival, featuring wine taverns, musical performances and an amusement park, continues for 10 days until Sunday, August 16.
