Police believe a gunshot hole found in a car in the Ried im Innkreis district was caused during a search for a roe buck, ORF reported on Sunday.

The 36 year old car owner discovered the damage on Friday after noticing that coolant was leaking. She had previously been on a training drive with a 16 year old when the problem occurred. Police searched the entire route but found no traces or other evidence of a shot being fired.

Investigators later focused on hunters. Police said a roe buck hunt had taken place during the day near the woman’s home, and several shots had been fired while searching for the animal. Some of the shots were reportedly fired in the direction of parked cars. The investigation was continuing.
