Fire brigade rescues exhausted deer from fountain

The Alkoven fire brigade rescued a deer from a fountain in Upper Austria’s Eferding district on Saturday, ORF reported.

The deer had apparently entered the roughly 1.5-metre-deep fountain while looking for water. Its smooth concrete rim prevented it from climbing out.

A firefighter climbed into the fountain and grabbed the exhausted animal. Together, the emergency responders lifted it to safety.

The deer jumped away as soon as it was freed, then found a shady spot under a tree to recover. The fire brigade said it was doing well.
