The municipality of Zirl in Tyrol’s Innsbruck Land district has extended its order to boil drinking water beyond the weekend, ORF Tirol reported on Saturday. A new water analysis found that the water still does not meet full drinking-water quality standards.
The water remains contaminated following severe storms in recent days, according to the municipality. Under the current order, residents must not use drinking water from the municipal supply without boiling it first.
The order will remain in force over the weekend. Further water analyses are not expected before Monday, August 10.
This is the second time this year that drinking water in the municipality has had to be boiled.
The order does not apply to Eigenhofen and Dirschenbach, which have independent water supplies. The municipality said it is providing updates on its website.
