Police seek two suspects after alleged attempted robbery in Villach

Police in Villach are searching for two 19-year-old men suspected of attempting to rob two young women on Friday evening, ORF reported. One of the women was injured during the incident.

The 16-year-old and 18-year-old met the men on a platform at Villach main station at about 8.45 p.m. The men accompanied them from the station to Bahnhofstraße. One of them allegedly stole an e-cigarette from the 16-year-old’s trouser pocket.

The man then allegedly asked the women for cash to buy a kebab. After the 18-year-old said she had no money, he reportedly asked her to show him her wallet. She showed it to him and put it back in her handbag.

The man then allegedly tried to take the handbag by force. As the woman held on to it, he reportedly grabbed her and dragged her several metres through an inner courtyard. She fell and injured her right elbow.

The two men fled when the women called for help. After questioning the victims, police said they believed the suspects were known to authorities. The men are from Syria and Iraq. The investigation is continuing.
