Police issued more than €14,000 in fines during an eight-hour operation targeting illegal vehicle modifications and speeding in the Wels and Wels-Land areas, ORF reported.
Officers carried out intensified checks between 4 p.m. and midnight on Friday, focusing on technical alterations to vehicles and violations of traffic regulations. Twelve cars had defects so serious that their licence plates were removed at the scene.
Police measured the speed of nearly 5,000 vehicles. More than 370 drivers were travelling too fast and were reported.
One driver was caught travelling at 160 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. Police temporarily confiscated the driver’s licence.
