Hunters shoot suspected livestock-killing wolf in Tyrol

Hunters shot a wolf in the Imst district on Friday evening after Tyrol’s state government issued an order authorising its killing, ORF reported. The order was lifted after the animal was killed.

Five sheep were found dead and four injured earlier in the week in an alpine pasture area in St Sigmund in Sellrain, near the border with the Imst district.

An official veterinarian examined the sheep. The pattern of injuries led to a specific suspicion that a wolf was responsible, prompting the state government to issue the order on Wednesday.

Another order remains in force for East Tyrol, as well as one for the Landeck district. A total of 10 wolves have been shot in Tyrol this year.
