Tyrol authorises wolf cull after sheep found dead in Leisach

Tyrol’s state government has authorised the shooting of a wolf in the alpine pasture area of Leisach after dead sheep were found there, ORF reported on Friday. Several other sheep are also missing.

An official veterinarian responsible for the area found concrete grounds to suspect a wolf was responsible, the state government said. Hunters have been informed.

The Tyrol authorities again urged residents to report sightings of large predators promptly using the sighting form on the state’s website or directly to the responsible district authority. Photos and videos are particularly important for the assessment, they said.

Large predators also left traces in the Oberland in early August, where livestock were killed.
