A fraud trial against German actor and musician Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht has been scheduled for October 1, ORF reported. The case concerns an allegedly unpaid hotel bill of nearly 14,000 euros for a multi-day birthday celebration in Tyrol.
The 34-year-old previously avoided a conviction when the case was resolved through diversion after he agreed to pay an 18,000-euro fine. The prosecution opposed that outcome, arguing that Ochsenknecht had not accepted responsibility for the alleged fraud.
The Higher Regional Court overturned the diversion, citing what it described as a lack of awareness of wrongdoing. It ruled that payment of the fine was insufficient.
A European arrest warrant was issued for Ochsenknecht during the proceedings. It remains unclear whether the trial will take place as scheduled at the Regional Court in Innsbruck, as Ochsenknecht reportedly has a residence outside the European Union, which could make it difficult to serve him with a legally valid summons.
