Court adjourns trial over Wolfsberg bar attack

A trial involving two brothers accused of seriously injuring a man and two women at a bar in Wolfsberg was adjourned on Friday, ORF reported. The case is being heard at the Klagenfurt Regional Court.

The incident occurred on the night of August 24 last year. Police called to the bar initially struggled to assess the chaotic situation, with heavy alcohol consumption quickly emerging as a factor in the proceedings.

The brothers, aged 38 and 35, allegedly felt provoked by guests at a neighbouring table. One of the accused is alleged to have stood up and hit a man on the back of the head with a beer mug, causing a skull fracture.

Two women who intervened were also injured. One was the bar’s landlady. The other was a prison officer who eventually held one of the alleged attackers on the floor until police intervened.

Judge Claudia Bandion-Ortner adjourned the hearing to call additional witnesses. Both defendants said they could remember the events only in fragments.
