Police arrest suspect after knife attack at Graz homeless shelter

Three men were injured in knife attacks at a homeless shelter in Graz on Thursday evening, and police arrested a 48-year-old suspected attacker, ORF reported.

Police were called to the emergency accommodation facility at about 11 p.m. after a physical altercation between residents was reported. A 39-year-old Turkish national suffered serious upper-body injuries. Two other men, aged 47 and 75, were lightly injured.

Witness statements enabled officers to identify the suspected attacker at the scene as a 48-year-old Turkish national. Police launched a search across Graz and arrested the man shortly afterwards. They also seized the suspected weapon.

The Styria State Criminal Police Office is investigating the circumstances of the incident and its motive.
