Swiss Post to raise letter prices from 2027

Swiss Post will raise the price of letters from the beginning of 2027, SRF reports. A standard A-Post letter will cost 1.40 Swiss francs, up from 1.20 francs, while the price of a standard B-Post letter will rise from 1 franc to 1.10 francs.

The price supervisor and Swiss Post have agreed on a three-year arrangement covering January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2029, following intensive negotiations. List prices for domestic and international parcels will remain unchanged until at least the end of 2029.

The changes mainly affect letter mail. The weight categories for A-Post and B-Post letters will also be revised. The standard category will cover letters weighing up to 50 grams, instead of up to 100 grams. It will not be subject to value-added tax, and more than 95 percent of current standard letters fall into this category.

Midi letters will cover items weighing between 51 and 500 grams.

The prices of A-Post Plus letters and registered letters will each rise by 20 centimes, in line with the increase for standard A-Post letters. A-Post large letters will cost 2.75 francs, while large B-Post letters will cost 2.25 francs.

Swiss Post will also introduce a volume letter for sending small goods. It will cost 4.20 francs, instead of the 4.50 francs proposed by the company.

The agreement means Swiss Post will not be able to adjust the prices of services including mail redirection, mail forwarding and customs clearance.
