The shell of a new psychiatry and psychotherapy unit at LKH Hochsteiermark hospital in Bruck has been completed, ORF reported. A topping-out ceremony was held on Wednesday, around one and a half years after construction began in April.
The unit is scheduled to expand psychiatric care at the hospital from October 2027. The project is expected to cost around 51 million euros.
Adult and geriatric psychiatry, a general psychiatric outpatient clinic, an addiction medicine outpatient clinic and a day clinic are planned under one roof.
The building is designed to combine medical requirements with an environment intended to support recovery. Clearly defined areas, straightforward routes and rooms for socialising and retreat are intended to provide patients and staff with orientation and security.
Landscaped outdoor areas and open spaces for therapeutic use will also expand treatment options beyond the building’s interior.
