Austria sets all-time heat record at 41.2 degrees

Austria recorded a new all-time heat record for the third consecutive day, with temperatures reaching 41.2 degrees Celsius in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg in the Bruck an der Leitha district on Wednesday, ORF reported, citing Geosphere Austria.

The temperature reached 41.2 degrees at 3:40 p.m. Bad Deutsch-Altenburg had already passed the 40-degree mark early in the afternoon and surpassed its own 2013 record of 40.5 degrees, which had remained Austria’s highest recorded temperature until Tuesday.

The measurement station then also exceeded Tuesday’s high of 41 degrees in Vienna-Stammersdorf. The Vienna station became the first in Austria to record temperatures of at least 40 degrees on three consecutive days.
