Carinthian parliament director Robert Weiß is facing an aggravated fraud allegation over his working-time records, with prosecutors alleging losses of more than 5,000 euros. ORF reported that Weiß denies all accusations.

The allegations concern claims that Weiß recorded his working hours inaccurately over several years to retain a flat-rate overtime payment. Anonymous tips prompted checks of his records two and a half years ago.

An independent disciplinary commission later suspended him. He has since been released from duty and receives half his salary. The investigation took more than two years, partly because responsibility shifted between investigative authorities.

Weiß’s lawyer, Michael Dietrich, said his client had been available to politicians for more than 20 years, including during his free time, holidays and periods of sick leave. Dietrich told ORF that the investigation should have been dropped.

The prosecution’s application is before the Regional Court in Klagenfurt. A trial date has not been set, and the charge is not yet legally final.
