Graz, police, road safety

A 16-year-old without a driving licence crashed into an unmarked police car in Graz on Monday after climbing into the back seat of his moving car, ORF reported. Two officers were slightly injured.

The incident happened on Triesterstraße. Police said the teenager had run a red light and looked at his mobile phone while driving. Officers activated their blue lights and a rear display reading “Police, please follow”.

The teenager then climbed onto the back seat, and his car rolled into the police vehicle. The injured officers went to UKH Graz, a hospital, for outpatient treatment.

A drug screening test was positive, while an alcohol test was negative. A subsequent examination by a police doctor found the teenager unfit to drive.
