SalzburgMilch becomes Austria’s third-largest dairy after merger
SalzburgMilch has completed its merger with Pinzgau Milch, becoming Austria’s third-largest dairy by revenue and milk processing volume, ORF reported on Monday.
The merger was approved by both companies’ general meetings in June 2026 and became official with its entry in the commercial register. The combined company has a calculated annual turnover of about 526 million euros, based on 2025 figures, and processed around 459 million kilograms of milk in 2026.
SalzburgMilch now sources milk from about 3,200 farms, most of them small-scale, and exports 39 percent of its products. The Salzburger Alpenmilch cooperative owns 90 percent of the company. The remaining 10 percent belongs to HMP Immobilien Holding, owned by Hans Michel Piëch, a member of the Porsche AG supervisory board.
Andreas Gasteiger and Sebastian Mösl remain the company’s managing directors. SalzburgMilch employs around 750 people at four locations and recently took over QimiQ, an insolvent Salzburg cream specialist.
Gasteiger called the merger a milestone for the company’s future, while Mösl pointed to potential synergies in milk collection and processing, logistics, production planning, purchasing and sales.
