Battery-powered LED grave candles must not go in residual waste because they could catch fire, the Association of Austrian Waste Management Companies warned in a report by ORF Burgenland.
LED candles are increasingly common in cemeteries, especially in the week before and after All Saints’ Day. They should be returned to the place of purchase or taken to a waste collection centre.
Wreaths and floral arrangements also need to be separated correctly. Plant parts can go in organic waste, while ribbons and other materials used to hold the greenery or flowers together belong in residual waste.
