A 65-year-old man from Hesse died after being found with severe injuries on a road in Unterschleissheim on Saturday evening. BR reports that police suspect he was struck and possibly run over by a larger vehicle, whose driver then fled.
Two people found the man at about 6:15 p.m. in an industrial area in the Munich district. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate him, but he died at the scene. He had been visiting family in Bavaria.
Police said an emergency doctor and a forensic pathologist at the scene believe he was hit by a larger vehicle and may also have been run over. The suspected driver has not been identified.
The Munich public prosecutor’s office has commissioned an accident reconstruction report. Police are investigating suspected failure to stop at the scene and negligent homicide. The crash happened at the junction of Carl-von-Linde-Strasse and Wiesenweg. Witnesses are asked to contact police.
