A 14-year-old Halloween enthusiast has transformed much of his family’s property in Fußach, in Vorarlberg, into a spooky display, ORF reported. For Corbinian Dorner, Halloween night is like his birthday, Christmas and New Year’s Eve rolled into one.

“The feeling of fear, of being spooked, the ghostly atmosphere — I just need it,” he said. His display features skulls, cobwebs, ghosts and the undead.

Corbinian thinks about Halloween throughout the year and starts counting down months in advance, his father, Philipp Dorner, said. The final two to four weeks before October 31 can be “almost a stress test” for the family, he added.

The teenager spends the months after Halloween making decorations and finding ideas for new projects. He is especially proud of a moving skeleton riding a horse that lights up, makes sounds and produces smoke. He bought the figure at a Halloween shop in Munich that he described as Europe’s largest open year-round, then fitted a fog machine and ran a hose so smoke comes out of the figure. The figure cost between 700 and 800 euros, he said, not including the fog machine.

Corbinian pays for his hobby with money from jobs he does alongside school, including delivering a local newspaper and mowing lawns for relatives. He also saves birthday money and said he puts aside anything he receives for Halloween decorations.

He also designs and builds some of his own spooky figures. The family’s Halloween display is set to welcome young and old ghosts again on Halloween night.
