Three arrested over Gloggnitz safe robbery
Three men have been arrested over a robbery in Gloggnitz in late September and are in pre-trial detention, ORF reported. Two are suspected of threatening and robbing the homeowner; the third allegedly provided information about the victim.
Two masked men knocked on the door of the 64-year-old man at about 9pm on September 27. When he opened it, one man pushed him to the ground while the other threatened a friend of his with a Stanley knife. The robbers fled with money and jewellery from a safe.
The homeowner was not injured but was shocked and reported the robbery the next day, police said.
Investigators identified a 23-year-old from Wiener Neustadt as a suspect. He was arrested in the city on October 14. A 26-year-old Romanian man and a 23-year-old from Neunkirchen district were arrested in Ternitz on October 20. The younger man is suspected of supplying information about the victim.
A search of a home recovered part of the stolen property: a silver coin and a gold wristwatch. All three men confessed, police said.
