A 15-year-old moped rider endangered other road users while fleeing police in Traiskirchen on Wednesday afternoon, ORF reported. Police have identified the teenager and are seeking additional witnesses and people affected by his driving.

Officers said they noticed a group of moped riders at about 3:30 p.m. One rider, a 15-year-old from the Baden district, turned into a side street. When police followed, he folded up his number plate and sped away, ignoring the officers’ siren.

Several people had to brake or swerve to avoid him, police said. Officers eventually called off the pursuit because of a road closure.

Passers-by later found the moped in bushes between Oberwaltersdorf and Trumau, both in the Baden district. The teenager was nearby and denied riding it. Police temporarily seized the number plate and registration certificate because of several defects and technical modifications to the vehicle.

Police have identified two people who were endangered and are asking other affected people and witnesses to contact Traiskirchen police station on 059133-3313.
