The takeover of the Kasberg ski area appears to be back on track after the remaining landowners approved new lease agreements, ORF reported on Thursday, citing the OÖNachrichten newspaper.
The Upper Austrian Cable Car Holding’s planned takeover had been in doubt because some signatures were still missing shortly before the October 31 deadline. Two landowners reportedly agreed on Tuesday, while another told the state that the agreement would be completed this week.
The ski area in Grünau im Almtal is due to open for the 2026-27 winter season on December 5. The state can now proceed with its planned involvement.
Upper Austria plans to invest up to 17 million euros in Kasberg. It has already released 850,000 euros.
