17-year-old causes serious crash involving three cars in Going

A 17-year-old driver caused a serious crash involving three cars in Going am Wilden Kaiser on Wednesday afternoon, ORF reported. Police suspect he crossed into oncoming traffic after briefly falling asleep at the wheel.
The teenager was driving on the B178 Loferer Straße from Ellmau towards St. Johann in Tirol shortly before 5 p.m. His car sideswiped an oncoming vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man. A 24-year-old driver following behind could not avoid a collision and hit the teenager’s car head-on.
The 24-year-old suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to St. Johann District Hospital. The other two people involved were slightly injured. All three cars were badly damaged and had to be towed away.
