Police stopped a line-bus driver whose blood-alcohol level was slightly above 0.5 per mille during a routine check in Steinach am Brenner on Wednesday, ORF reported.

The check took place at about 7.30am. Seven passengers were on board, and police said the bus had not attracted attention because of the way it was being driven.

The driver was given a breath test and prohibited from continuing his journey. Police will report him to the Innsbruck-Land district administration.

Police spokesperson Stefan Eder described such incidents as isolated cases. Police do not keep separate statistics on them and said routine traffic checks also include line buses.
