A Bavarian folk music night brought a mixed-age crowd to the Eiskeller nightclub in Aschau, BR reports. The “Blech trifft Club” series swaps the venue’s usual house music for traditional tunes in its vaulted rooms.
The Eiskeller is a nightclub in a vault below Hohenaschau Castle. At the latest event, the Tegernseer Tanzlmusi played polkas and Boarian dances, and the dance floor filled quickly. Many guests wore traditional Bavarian clothing.
Visitors ranged in age from about 20 to 60 and came from Aschau and farther afield. A group from the Oberallgäu region attended as part of a Plattler outing, while a couple from Füssen travelled specifically to hear the band. Regular Eiskeller guests also joined in, saying the traditional music and clothing worked well with the club atmosphere.
The club’s managing director, Lukas Rinner, said the traditional clothing was not for Oktoberfest or carnival. The musicians, too, enjoyed the setting. The event series was devised by the club’s two managers and the operators of Brauhaus Hohenaschau, who are planning more nights. The next event is scheduled for February 27.
