An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured in an e-scooter crash in Salzburg on the public holiday, while a separate check found another scooter could reach 62 km/h, ORF reported.

Police found that the boy’s scooter could reach up to 46 km/h, although it was permitted to travel at no more than 25 km/h. The child’s guardian has been reported to police.

Officers also stopped a 20-year-old Syrian man who appeared to be travelling too fast on an e-scooter. The vehicle reached up to 62 km/h on a test stand, according to investigators. The man tested positive for cannabis and refused a clinical examination. He has also been reported to police.
